Ars-en-Ré. August 12, 2018
August 19, 2018 - Back to Ars to be with Pierre’s parents. Pierre’s Mom got much better and was able to spend the month of August in Ré.
Pierre’s brothers and sisters took turn to help their parents, we had the last shift. Upon our arrival in Ars, we went for dinner at the unavoidable Café du Commerce with Emma, Pierre’s niece.
We spent another month on the Island, enjoying a fantastic weather and the visits of many friends and family including Mariannick G. with Michèle and Jean-Pierre A, Isabelle’s cousins: Catherine and Michel S. with Thérèse and Michel B. Ségolène F. and Catherine P. (François did not make it yet)!
Then came “The Triplets”, our Texan friends! We had not see John T., Chris P. and Fritz H. since we left Austin. So happy to welcome them in our little paradise, we ate lots of oysters, took long bike rides in the Marais, to Trousse-Chemise and Le Phare des Baleines. We had wonderful dinners in St Martin at La Baleine Bleue, in St Clément at Le Chat Botté where we enjoyed the famous “Bar en Croûte” ending the evening at La Java des Baleines for some Hula Hoop dancing. The Triplets spent a lot of time at the daily market in Ars. Literally all the market vendors knew them by name and were very sad to see them go back to the States, witnessing an immediate sharp decrease in Turnover.
A fishing trip with Laurence and François L. did not result in any significant catches but produced many laughs.
Implementing on John’s idea, we spent a morning getting pampered at Le Clos Saint-Martin Hôtel & Spa where they had great massages and their best margaritas EVER! Fixed by a french barmaid who had learned the trick in Texas! In all places!!! After few drinks, we made our way to La Cible for lunch, one of our favorite places right on the beach…
Leaving enough time that afternoon to go wild in Saint-Matin.
Pierre spent our last couple weeks in Ré shooting videos, flying his drone and interviewing locals in preparation of his latest video project.
Time to leave Ré, with a stop in Paris for a few days where we spent some time at the Musée d’Orsay for the exhibit Picasso Rose et Bleue and at L’Atelier des Lumières for a digital art show, an amazing immersive light installations inspired by Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele. A must see!
And got to enjoy time with Béryl and Rex H.
Meanwhile back home in Miami, Charlotte went to get her first haircut. She is now a big girl and very proud of this First….. We cannot wait to see the girls, few more days….
