Bassin d'Arcachon. September 2, 2016
After a long drive from Marseille, we arrive at Petit Piquey on Le Bassin d'Arcachon on time for an oyster dinner at Jacques and Sophie's de G.. Sophie and Isabelle have been friends since middle school! Jacques and Sophie have a great house right by the water where you can watch the tide go-out and back-in twice a day as well as beautiful sunrises and sunsets. Never a boring moment...
A morning rowing expedition in the fog opens our appetite for a nice lunch under the tree by the beach with Jacques' mother.
It is time to get dressed and head to Pauillac (Haut Medoc) for the wedding of Eléonore and Stéphane.
Next day is a big day on the Bassin: The regatta La Route de l'Huître, a yearly regatta organized by Le cercle de voile d'Arcachon.
We are racing with Jacques' boat, a brand new J70. Jacques is the skipper, Rock is handling the sheets and Pierre is in charge of the spinnaker. We are sure to win... Not!
But despite the very light winds (and a false start), we did well and had the best time! (Time referring to "moment" and not "performance").
